General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Policy

If you have registered on this site, the Central Council of Church Bellringers (CCCBR) holds the following personal data relating to the Ringing Remembers recruitment campaign.

  • Name
  • Address (including postcode)
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Date of Birth (if under 18 at the time of registration).
  • Information you entered at the time of registration or subsequently as shown on your profile page.

We hold this data with your consent, so we can find a suitable tower and tutor or to verify you as a bona fide new or returning ringer. The information you supply will be made available to officers of an affiliated ringing society in order to do so.  Your data can also be accessed by selected members of the CCCBR Volunteer and Leadership Development (VLD) group. We do not share your data with any other organisation.

If you are a contact for an affiliated ringing society, we hold the following personal data

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Society you represent
  • Information you entered as shown on your profile page.

Accessing your data

You have a right to access your data. Login using your ID (or the email address you registered with), and select Edit My Profile from the top menu.

If you are a tutor for an affiliated ringing society, please email the administrator.

Data Processing

We do not intend to ‘process’ your data, other than making it available for officers of affiliated ringing societies, and members of the VLD group in order to find you a tower to ring at.

Data Retention Policy

Under GDPR you have a right to ‘be forgotten’ i.e. have your data removed. If you not longer wish to take part in Learn to Ring please email the administrator. We will then remove your details from our database (you will receive emails advising you).

Otherwise, your data will be retained for statistical purposes for up to two year after you have commenced lessons.

Data Security

We have in place a number of security measures, including a firewall to block known malicious sites, and a block against brute force password attacks. SSL encryption is enforced for all data access pages. Please email the administrator if you want to know more.


In the first instance please email the administrator. However, if you believe that CCCBR is not handling your data correctly, you have a right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
